    Iowa's FileMaker Electronic IEP
Tips & Tricks (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q When I try to launch the EIEP system, I get a dialog box that says one or more of the files is corrupted and must be recovered. Have I lost everything? What can I do?
A

This information is abstracted from the FileMaker Tech Info Knowledge base article "How to Recover a FileMaker Pro Developer Edition or SDK Solution": Immediately after launching the "Iowa IEP" application, use the following keyboard commands:

  • For Macintosh: Hold down both the command and option keys (Command + Option)

  • For Windows: Hold down both the control and shift keys (Control + Shift)

In the recovery process, the FileMaker Pro Runtime application does the following:

  • Creates a new file.

  • Renames the damaged file. It adds "old" to the end of the file names. For example, "iep.iid" on the Macintosh is renamed to "iepOld.iid" and "students" on Windows is renamed "studentsOld". If your AEA or district is using FileMaker Developer 5 then the extension .fp5 is used for file names).
