Q When I click on the button to go to the "previous IEP results" section, I find I'm in the IEP for a different student! If I go to the IEP that should be the previous one, the goals are all there. What do I do?
A

Go to one of that student's IEPs, and then click on the "?" button in the navigation bar at the bottom, or go to the "IEP Helper" menu in the menu bar. This will take you to the "IEP Section Helper" page. In the bottom right-hand corner of that page is a button that will sort the student's IEPs by date and reassign the order of the IEPs so that the correct previous IEP will be identified for each IEP. Before you start this process, you might want to check the "IEP Overview" list to make sure you have dates filled in for each of that student's IEPs, since the IEPs can't be correctly reordered by date if one or more are not dated. (If your version of the EIEP does not have the button, you may want to check with the EIEP technical support person for your AEA or district to find out whether there is a newer version of the EIEP that you could, and maybe should, be using.)

If this does not work, or if your version of the EIEP does not have the "sort" button, another option would be to export the student's record using the "export" button on the "other options" menu. Then import the student's record back into the EIEP. If you choose to list only the newly imported student(s) at the end of the import process, you can go to the newly imported student record and immediately change the name in some way, such as to add a date to the end of the student's first or last name or a number to the student's middle initial. (You can change the name back later.) You will be prompted to sort the student's records the first time you go to the "Section C: Previous IEP Results" for the newly imported student. After you have looked at the newly imported record, be sure to delete the original student record. (In the student list, if no change has been made to the student name, usually the first of the duplicate student names is the original, and the second is the newly imported record. If you have changed the name, the names will be sorted alphabetically.). By temporarily changing the name of the newly imported student, when when you return to the student list, you will be sure which of the duplicate student names is the newly imported record. If you get mixed up, you can import the student record again, since the import files should still be in the "Iowa IEP folder", until such time as you do another export of student records or replace the set of student "exp" files. It is best to delete the original student record, so that there is no confusion regarding which copy of an IEP you are working in. If you simply can't bring yourself to delete the original student record, you might want to try the strategy of changing the student's name in the original record, the one for which you can't get to the correct previous IEP results, to something like "JohnnyDon'tUse SmithDon'tUse".
